Based on early announcements and reports so far, some of the new van models potentially planned for launch in the UK market in 2025 include the Renault Kangoo E-Tech Electric (offers here), and the Volkswagen ID.Buzz Cargo, and Kia have revealed that a new range of electric vans will join its commercial line-up next year - watch this space!Â
Is there a shortage of new vans?
Given the ongoing supply chain issues currently impacting new van availability and delivery lead times in the UK, it is very likely that van shortages will remain a problem to some extent through 2024 as well. However, production speed and manufacturers meeting customer demand have definitely improved since last year.Â
Is 2024 a good time to buy a new van?
On balance, 2024 is shaping up as a year of purchase for new van buyers. Those able to plan ahead and order early could secure exciting new electric options like the e-Transit Custom at a potentially affordable price. But be prepared for potential longer delivery timeframes so always check with the manufacturer first.Â
Why are second-hand van prices so high?
There are a few key factors driving used van prices to remain so high in the UK in 2024. The reasons are largely down to ongoing new van shortages, high operating costs (especially for combustion engine vans right now), strong residual values, and a preference for certain types of vans - especially those in the mid-size sector.
Will van prices drop in 2024?
It is unlikely that van prices overall will see major drops in the UK in 2024. However, some possible downward price pressure could emerge which will benefit customers - including potential incentives on new electric vans, improvements in previous supply chain issues, and fluctuations in the used van market.
What is the best van on the market?
Based on reviews, capabilities, technological advancements and popularity, the best van in the UK right now is the Ford Transit Custom, which is why it has been crowned Van of the Year in 2024.Â
